<p>One of the main health problems nowadays is obesity or being overweight. With more than 70 percent overweight adults in America alone is an indication of how much this problem has proliferated. No doubt there are numerous theories on losing weight and internet is filled with articles on losing weight. Some provide quick fixes for losing weight while some include fitness regime.</p>

<p>Though many people feel that they manage to lose some weight initially, they go back to their normal self after a few weeks. It is hence quite important to know the proper way to lose weight and be wary of mistakes not to make while trying to lose weight. Some of the common mistakes people make while losing weight are-</p>
<ol>
<li><strong>Using The Wrong Strategy</strong> &#8211; Just controlling your diet or exercising won’t be efficient enough. You must find a plan where you use both controlled diet and exercise for losing weight. Also make sure that you are not under stress as it can wash away all your hard work.</li>
<li><strong>Expecting To Lose Too Much Weight</strong> &#8211; It is neither feasible nor advised to lose too much weight too soon. No doubt some people have lost 20 pounds in a week; it however requires lots of work as well as is considered dangerous for health. Instead aim for little change in due course of time. Losing up to 2 pounds in a week is advised and is quite achievable and healthy.</li>
<li><strong>Not Having A Strategy </strong>- Create a strategy for losing weight and stick to it; if you are finding good results with one of the strategies, try to use it more often and if some of them do not work you can always lose one or two of them. Also having a strategy will make sure that you are sticking to the line or at least you know whenever you are deviating from it. Now if you don’t have any strategy then you don’t have a line to stick to and hence more chances of going astray.</li>
<li><strong>Not Having A Measuring Tape</strong> &#8211; Keeping a measuring tape and taking measurements in regular intervals can provide you with valuable data on your progress which is quite essential for knowing your progress and planning your strategies. On the other hand not having one will devoid you of the essential data about your progress. Also getting yourself weighed in regular intervals is a good idea.</li>
<li><strong>Using Quick Fixes</strong> &#8211; Many people go for crash diets or Syrup diets, which is based on depriving the body of calories in order to lose weight. Although there are numerous examples of drastic weight loss through these quick fix techniques, they however can cause serious side-effects. Also crash diets although may show effects in short time is short lived and you will gain weight as fast as you lost it.</li>
<li><strong>Not Keeping A Food Diary</strong> &#8211; Gaining weight is simply intake of more calories than you spend. Hence by keeping a tab of calories you consume, you can make a create a strategy to lose weight quite efficiently.</li>
<li><strong>Being Too Strict</strong> &#8211; Being too strict with your plan is also not good for you. You may devoid yourself of having the chocolate cake for the 3 month course you are following, but once the course is done, you will be tempted to gorge on your favorite meal the moment you get a chance. Also being too strict with your body may arise various complications which is better to avoid in any case. Hence you can have that occasional high- calorie food once in a while, just make sure to add some extra work out session to neutralize it the next day.</li>

<p><span id="more-1241"></span>However, while following diets, one should refrain from the mistakes that are commonly committed especially choosing the right kinds of food. Wheat has been proven as the food that contributes towards weight gain.</p>
<p>It has always been believed that eating a toasted slice of whole wheat is a healthier option when compared to Snickers bar or a soft drink. However, the hard fact is that the wheat bread increases the blood sugar more than the soda and candy bars.</p>
<p>The reason being, the glycemic index also known as GI is higher, and it provokes the food to raise the blood sugar. If your blood sugar goes high after eating, a large amount of insulin is released. As a result, excess fat gets accumulated in the body. There are eight reasons listed below that proves that wheat is not apt for weight loss.</p>
<p><strong>1. Wheat eaters tend to eat more: </strong>Have you ever analyzed that you tend to feel hungrier and go on hunting for snacks even after eating heavy grain breakfast at 7 in the morning? The surge in insulin and glucose and subsequent drops in blood sugar that is followed by consuming wheat makes you feel hungry in every 2 hours irrespective of whether your body needs the food or not. The hunger will be present all throughout the day in the form of light night munching, afternoon slumps, and cravings before lunch. You may feel like eating constantly due to consumption of carbs based out of wheat.</p>
<p><strong>2. Brain becomes addictive due to over consumption of wheat: </strong>The main cause that make wheat inappropriate for weight loss is that it has addictive properties present in it. Wheat contributes towards stimulating your appetite that makes you eat more and more of wheat foods. And, when you stop consuming those foods, your body will have symptoms of withdrawal. As per researches at the National Institute of Health, the properties present in gluten have the abilities to penetrate through the brain and blood barriers. Soon after the entry into the brain, the compounds of wheat start binding in the brain’s receptors. These receptors produce a mild euphoria. Some of the examples are eating fresh hot pancakes or biscuits.</p>
<p><strong>3. Switch to lean meat instead of wheat foods:</strong> By eating lean meat as well as raw vegetables instead of wheat based and processed foods, you can enjoy better sleep, your mood will be more stable, and you feel more energetic than before. It has been speculated that the interconnection can be clearly explained by the absence of sings in the blood sugar that results in energy slumps. Wheat has no significance, when it comes to gaining energy in body. By avoiding wheat and switching over to lean meat, sea food, and raw veggies, you can easily get rid of abdominal fat, and you will never ask how to lose belly fat if you learn the basics right.</p>
<p><strong>4. Gluten free foods are no solution:</strong> You can get rid of wheat from your diet and enjoy large portions of healthy foods such as green beans, baked chicken, scrambled eggs. Just in case you are worried that you are not getting enough of fiber, you can increase the intake of raw nuts and the intake of fiber will naturally go up. Gluten free foods have been considered to be more harmful as they only sound healthier. The real truth is that these foods are mostly replaced with corn starch instead of wheat flour, which increases the blood sugar.</p>
<p><strong>5. Wheat has high calories:</strong> The biggest reason for gaining more weight due to consumption of wheat is because of the fact that they are not low in calories. Most people are not aware of this fact and they try to consume more of whole wheat that comes in the way of weight loss. Whole wheat products can also be high in added sugar, when compared to products that are made out of refined white flour. Therefore, avoid wheat if you are really serious about losing <a href="http://bellyfat360.com/how-to-lose-belly-fat/">belly fat</a>.</p>
<p><strong>6. Storage of visceral fat:</strong> Wheat contains a kind of sugar known as amylopectin that is solely responsible for accumulating visceral fat in the body that appears as deep fat surrounding organs. Also, bio engineered protein is present in the wheat called as gliadin protein. It makes one crave for more food. As a result, people gain more weight. As per many doctors, skipping wheat for a period of one month can definitely show significant results as far as your waistline is concerned.</p>

Water retention and bloating are the common causes of consuming wheat:</strong> The major benefit of cutting down wheat from your diet is that it will have greater effects as far as weight loss is concerned. Wheat contains estrogen, which can be ineffective when it comes to losing weight. Excess of estrogen caused by abdominal fat increases the risk of breast cancer for women. Therefore, it should be avoided in order to remain slim and healthy.</p>

The problem with this is that everyone knows about them already. What are the ways people gain weight that are surprising more than anything else?</p>
<p><strong>No Sleep?</strong></p>
<p>Sleep is something that most working people do not get enough of, there is no doubt about this. <span id="more-375"></span></p>
<p>A lot of people can also get around five-six hours sleep without even feeling tired the next day but have they looked at the weight levels? The body of course works best when it has had plenty of rest and sleep and when you do not get enough sleep you may be reaching out for food to help with it.</p>
<p>Many people that cannot sleep will pop downstairs and grab a snack to try and assist them with things and although they may think it helps it would seem that all it does is add to the calorie intake for that day.</p>
<p>Although eight hours a night is the recommended amount of sleep you are supposed to get I feel if you simply added a small amount of time onto your normal night’s sleep you would immediately stop wanting to snack late into the night.</p>
<p><strong>Medical Condition</strong></p>
<p>If you are suddenly gaining weight and you simply have no idea why in that you are still eating the same amount of food and exercising the same then it could be down to a medical issue you are not aware of.</p>
<p>The chances are it is something else but if you are feeling a bit unwell or you have a bad feeling then get straight to the doctors and have yourself checked out.</p>
<p>When I first got Diabetes type 1 I had no idea I had it all but I was rapidly losing weight instead of putting it on so it is worth watching out for weight loss too.</p>
<p><strong>The Menopause</strong></p>
<p>Menopause is a massive change in a woman’s life and when women are going through this the body is changing rapidly. They lose estrogen which can cause the shape of the body  to change and this usually results in lost weight from the hip and thigh and a bit more around the middle in the same way that this naturally happens with men. Many women refer to this as the “menopot” area instead of what is usually called the spare tyre.</p>
<p>Too help combat these effects the best advice is to take part in a bit of weightlifting as the muscles around the middle should start to tighten up a bit.</p>
<p>So there you are, just a few ways people put on weight that you may not be aware of, do not despair though as all of these have solutions and can be put right.</p>
