<p><strong> No Hands, No Cookies</strong></p>
<p>Always wash your hands before eating. In fact, to reduce your chances of getting ill while on vacation by 30 to 50 percent, wash your hands frequently whether you plan to grab a bite or not. Carry around an alcohol hand gel and squirt it generously. Buy hand gels with the word ‘sanitizer’ in the label because they come with an FDA-approved alcohol content that is 70 percent or greater.</p>
<p><strong> Jet Well Soon</strong></p>
<p>Jet lag can contribute to tiredness and a general feeling of being out of sorts when away from home. Each time zone you pass can take up to an entire day to adjust to completely. If you’ve gone halfway around the world, it can take a week before you feel great – a week of valuable vacation days that you’ve been looking forward to all year.</p>
<p>You can fool your internal clock into adjusting quicker by exposing yourself to light at certain hours or taking melatonin. If your travels have taken you eastward, get some good sun early in the day to help your body clock get the point. If you’ve set out toward the setting sun, get your sunlight in the evening. Three milligrams of melatonin can also help you adjust quickly especially when traveling eastward.</p>
<p><strong> Picky Eater</strong></p>
<p>Carefully select the foods you eat while abroad. The safest way to avoid becoming sick from something you’ve ingested is to only eat things that you have cooked, peeled, or washed. A thorough cooking will destroy most bacteria. Peeling off the outer layer of a fruit will expose the cleaner, safer inner surface. Be careful, when you wash food, to use water that is clean and free of bacteria.</p>
<p><strong>Sunstroke</strong></p>
<p>Not only can a bad case of vacation-induced sunburn be a painful way to spend your off days, it can also increase your chances of skin cancer as the years pass. Apply a good layer of sunblock to your skin every couple of hours to avoid being burned. An SPF level of 30 is sufficient protection, and it’s important to reapply the sunblock at various times throughout the day.</p>
<p><strong> Airplane Infection</strong></p>
<p>Due to the recycled air, airplanes can be breeding and spreading grounds for the germs of any infected passenger. Keep yourself fully hydrated with plenty of water to keep your natural defenses high while flying. Turning on the overhead vent to provide a steady and soft stream of air to the front of your face can help to keep germs from floating into your orifices.</p>
<p><strong> Pre-Travel Prep</strong></p>
<p>Stock up on vitamins and minerals before your vacation, and make sure you have all your immunizations. Keeping your immune system running at its peak is one of the surest ways to prevent illness while traveling.</p>

<p>Because of his popularity in the sport, his weight issues are overlooked.  On the other hand, chubby high school girls are rarely admitted to sports teams or cheer-leading squads.  Instead, peers usually make fun of her weight.  <span id="more-779"></span></p>
<p>Because of this double standard, women are more susceptible to go on crash diets, and sometimes end up being sick with an eating disorder, just for the purpose of becoming thin and attractive.  However, losing weight should never equate for being sick;   in contrast, it should be linked to wellness.  Shedding off pounds can be done in a healthy manner, by having a well-balanced diet and doing the right exercise routines.  To begin with, though, your goal of losing weight should never be mainly to look good, but to feel good.</p>
<h3 id="toc-eating-healthy-to-lose-weight">Eating Healthy to Lose Weight</h3>
<p>A lot of women get sick while dieting because they skip meals.  They have the misconception that to lose weight fast, they need to stop eating, or eat just once day.  This mistaken belief has been going on for too long now, and people, not just women, need to know the truth.  If you skip meals, your body will respond by slowing down the burning of calories, which is the body’s natural response to starvation.   The long term effect would be your storing of fats, instead of losing them.  Besides, starving yourself is not healthy, since it deprives your body of the nutrition it needs to function well.</p>
<h3 id="toc-the-right-diet">The Right Diet</h3>
<p>What is the right diet, you may wonder?  There is not one type of diet that exists that can help everyone to lose weight fast.  However, a healthy and well-balanced diet can have a great effect in making your metabolism become faster.  A healthy diet should be high in protein and fiber, and low (much better if it’s zero) in processed sugars and fats.</p>
<p>To shed of your excess weight, you should eat a lot of fiber rich vegetables and fruits, as well as healthy protein sources, such as lean cuts of meats, poultry, fish, and bean products.  Both protein and fiber influences the speed of the body’s metabolism, and both also help make the stomach feel full longer.  Protein aids in sustaining muscles during weight loss, while fiber helps rid the body of cholesterol and toxins, through regular bowel movements.</p>
<h3 id="toc-womens-fitness-gyms-boxing">Women&#8217;s Fitness Gyms: Boxing?</h3>
<p>Some women ask themselves what they’re doing wrong, because they work out regularly but still can’t seem to shed off those unwanted pounds.  The answer to that is simple – they are not doing it right!  Just like diet, you also need to have the right exercise routines to lose weight.  An effective exercise routine would be cardio, since it impacts the entire body, and not just a particular area of it.   By the way, there is no such thing as a spot reduction exercise.  If you want to lose that fat belly of yours, or flabby arms, you need to do exercises that target the entire body.  One type of exercise that will give you the effect you need of weight loss is boxing.  Yes, you read it right – boxing.</p>
<p>When you hear the word, ‘boxing’, you think of Muhammad Ali or Manny Pacquiao.  You think that the sport is only for men, but that’s completely untrue.  Boxing is a mixture of aerobic and anaerobic exercises, and is a full-body workout.  The said sports/exercise increases the body’s metabolism (that leads to fat burning), helps increase stamina, flexibility, strength, endurance, develops coordination and body balance, and can make you look fit because it tones the muscles of the body.  An added benefit not related to fitness is that women can use their knowledge of boxing to protect themselves, in case they’re physically attacked.</p>
<p>Because boxing as a workout routine is becoming popular, a lot of boxing gyms have begun to appear in the country.  If you are planning to start boxing to get fit, you can check out boxing gyms nearest you.  If you are conscious about going to a gym full of ‘boxing’ men, don’t worry, there are boxing gyms that are strictly for women only, wherein you can be trained by professional women boxing trainers.</p>
<h3 id="toc-some-last-words-of-encouragement-for-women-dieting-and-working-out">Some Last Words of Encouragement for Women Dieting and Working Out</h3>
<p>By reading this post, I hope I have instilled in you the fact that weight loss could never be achieved by dieting or working out alone, but by a combination of both.  The diet secret is to eat less, and move more.  By doing the right exercises and having a healthy diet, you will not only achieve your ideal body weight, you will also be able to protect your body from illnesses.  Women tend to experience more stresses in life, balancing work and family.  By having a healthy well-being, you can easily work through this.    I know that the goal of losing weight appears like it’s hard to reach, but just think about the end result – a fit and attractive body, and you will see that it’s all worth the effort.</p>

Sore throats are just one of those childhood ailments you need to be  ready to deal with.</p>
<p>Make no mistake, a sore throat can mean very bad news for a young  child&#8217;s health. If left unchecked, viral infections can cause immense pain for  both your child and you as well. Just as often, however, minor throat pains can  add up to be much more than minor pains in the life of the parent as well. <span id="more-589"></span></p>
<p>One of the first things a diligent parent will want to do is attempt  to get a clear understanding of how big a challenge is happening when the child  complains of pain. Did they just consume an extremely cold beverage? Perhaps  they made a trip to the ice cream truck and downed their Popsicle in hasty  manner.</p>
<p>Cold can have deleterious effects on your children&#8217;s mouth and  throat, but there are usually no long lasting concerns. Simply let them thaw  out a bit, and, of course, use the opportunity as a teaching lesson about  consuming foods too fast.</p>
<p>Once you have determined there is a legitimate concern the next step  is to figure out the best way to provide relief. Children are notorious for not  accepting adult wisdom when it comes to treatment for what ails them. If you  are facing a young one that is likely to be a problem, you&#8217;ll want to creative  in approaching the solution right for them.</p>
<p>Pretty much anything they have to have sprayed in their mouth and  throat is not going to be well received by the youngster. It can help if you  participate with them instead of taking the &#8220;do what I say, not what I  do&#8221; stand. Kids pretty much never like that approach for much of anything.</p>
<p>Assuming you&#8217;ve not already made a visit to your pediatrician and  had some sort of child medication prescribed, you may want to administer some  over the counter options yourself. There are a number of consumer medications  which are specifically developed for the young pallet of a child. Whether they  are sweet syrups or chewable pain relievers like acetaminophen or ibuprofen, if  you can get them to take a dose, you&#8217;ll find their pain symptoms will begin to  cease.</p>
<p>Often, however it is those very topical approaches which will  provide your ailing child immediate relief. Depending upon the child&#8217;s age,  getting them to drink something cool can provide them with considerable help in  dealing with the discomfort. If the child is very young, and still willing to  drink from a bottle, use that. The slow delivery of fluid from the bottle&#8217;s  nipple will provide a therapeutic spray over much of the afflicted region in  their throat. Additionally, long slow consumption can wash away the discharge  often generated by infection in a sore region.</p>
<p>If you only allow candies to your kids on special occasions, this  might be one of the exceptions. Providing you&#8217;re not concerned with a child  attempting to swallow a lozenge or other hard candy, the mouth&#8217;s salivation  will provide natural moisture they need to keep their throats coated. Older children  can use medicated lozenges to have double the good effects.</p>
<p>Finally, another way you can provide caring help to your child  without pulling your hair out trying to get something down their gullets is to  set up a humidifier in their sleeping area. Make sure they are actually  breathing in the warm, moist air, and when they awake, many of their symptoms  will have diminished without you increasing your number of gray hairs.</p>

According to <a href="http://www.forbes.com/feeds/hscout/2009/05/14/hscout627020.html" target="_blank">Forbes.com</a>, referring to an article in  HealthDay News that originally appeared in The Lancet Online, studies about the  benefits of exercise critical care patients are being done to give more hope to  the loved ones and medical care givers of critically ill patients in ICU. <span id="more-19"></span></p>
<p>A new study performed at the University of  Chicago confirms what many neurologists and physical therapists have been  touting for a long time: gentle, intermittent exercise of the critically ill  patient could prove to be beneficial to those recovering from a stint in the  ICU. The study, led by Dr John Cress, examined evidence that waking the patient  from the induced sedation of other-worldly oblivion and putting them through  gentle exercises will help promote quicker healing time when the patient is in  the recovery process. Some of the most common side effects of enduring such  prolonged inactivity include generalized weakness and diseases of the brain and  psyche.</p>
<p>The results of the study were validated by  the testimony of two prominent Swiss doctors, Stephen M. Jakob, MD, and Jukka  Takala, MD, of the University Hospital in Switzerland, in their commentary to  the study, &#8220;Exercise should have a central role in the treatment of  critically ill patients&#8230;&#8221;. They go on to note the US is a good example  of a country that does use physical therapy as an avenue of ensuring a quick,  progressive recovery in critically ill patients. However, they point out  uniformity and continuity are sorely lacking from one hospital or clinic to the  next.</p>
<p>Researchers, clinicians, doctors and other  medical personnel are already utilizing the knowledge we have acquired from the  study and others like it. More research will take more money, something our  federal and state governments are sorely lacking at the present time. While it  may be up to the individual hospitals and clinics to administer their own  programs and versions of the revolutionary studies, there is hope on the  horizon. It is very plausible to imagine the practice of exercising the  patients to promote faster healing will eventually be a established procedure  across the nation, with standard protocol for its implementation.</p>
