While a lot of people who feel allergy symptoms will simply reach for some kind of antihistamine pill, this is the worst way to relieve the symptoms. Often, they are simply masked for the short term and compounded in the long term by this kind of approach. With a higher level of hydration, however, you can escape the symptoms over the long term and become genuinely healthier instead of merely masking the problems of your allergies.<span id="more-1313"></span></p>
<p><strong>What Causes an Allergy</strong></p>
<p>Allergies themselves are genetic predispositions to having a histamine response to a certain chemical. While medical science has not determined the exact nature or complete cause of allergies, it is known that they are caused by a histamine response that is designed to protect your body from the allergen. Interestingly enough, dehydration actually plays a significant role in causing the reactions many people experience in the presence of certain allergens.</p>
<p>Much of the population is chronically dehydrated, which socially encourages people to drink very little water under normal circumstances. Because of this lack of water, histamine has to work overtime keeping what water your body has inside of it doing as much as it can.</p>
<p><strong>The Role of Histamine</strong></p>
<p>Histamine is a kind of chemical known as a neurotransmitter, which means it facilitates large chemical changes inside of your body. Much of histamine&#8217;s work involves keeping the water in your body doing what it needs to do. As you become dehydrated, your body produces more histamine as a method of rationing the water you have. Histamine also makes you feel thirsty, but unfortunately many people in society simply drink liquids that hydrate far less than water does. Beyond making you thirsty, histamine also has another important role.</p>
<p>Histamine also causes your body to produce antibodies. Antibodies are chemical responses to anything that attacks your body, from bacteria and viruses to dust or pollen particles. When your body does not have enough histamine, particularly when you are dehydrated, you cannot shrug off the harmful effects of an allergen as effectively. This causes more allergic responses from your body because it is essentially under-defended.</p>
<p><strong>Drink More Water</strong></p>
<p>When you begin to feel an allergic reaction coming on, drink more water immediately. Even when you aren&#8217;t thirsty, begin each day by drinking a tall glass or two of water. Even if you aren&#8217;t doing anything which causes you to sweat, keep drinking water throughout the day. Over time, your allergic reactions will decrease considerably without having to take any pills.</p>
<p>Water is essential to the bodily processes that fight off allergies. While many people take pills, they can have better success by simply drinking more water. If you drink more water in your daily life, your allergies will begin to recede rapidly.</p>

<p>The following tips may help you select the best life coach for your needs.</p>
<p>• <strong>The primary requirement is that you have an excellent rapport with your life coach</strong>. All the experience and expertise in the world will not matter if you and your life coach cannot or do not relate to each other. Do not work with a life coach who tries to pressure you into doing so.</p>
<p>• <strong>What type of personality does your life coach have?</strong> You will want a compassionate and understanding life coach, but you&#8217;ll also want one who is strong enough to keep you on track. Your life coach should be an excellent listener, be astute and inquisitive.</p>
<p>• <strong>Does the life coach have a good reputation?</strong> What do former clients have to say about him or her and what is his or her reputation within their field? A good life coach will have excellent standing with their peers and clients.</p>
<p>• <strong>In which area(s) do they specialize and what is their experience?</strong> Life coaches usually have one or a few areas in which they specialize. If a life coach lacks specialized expertise or states that they work with all areas, they may not have the experience and/or knowledge to adequately help you achieve your goals. Although every new life coach has to get experience, working with someone who is new to the field may mean you will not get the direction you need.</p>
<p>• <strong>How did they obtain their certification to be a life coach?</strong> As in any professional field, quality is more important than quantity. Certification from a recognized institute is preferable to several do-it-yourself online courses.</p>
<p>• <strong>What techniques and methodologies does he or she use?</strong> Selecting a life coach whose background, lifestyle and beliefs are similar to your own will optimize both your relationship and your success. Otherwise, you&#8217;ll spend extra time, and thereby incur extra expense, explaining where you are coming from and where you want to be.</p>
<p>• <strong>Where does your life coach live?</strong> If face-to-face meetings are important to you, then you need a life coach who is within a reasonable traveling distance. If not, clarify beforehand who will be paying the travel expenses. Alternatively, many life coaches conduct sessions over the telephone and this works well for some people. However, it is wise to have an initial face-to-face meeting with your life coach before committing to work with him or her. Initial consultations are usually free.</p>
<p>• <strong>What does your life coach cost and what can you afford?</strong> As with any professional consultation, sessions with a life coach are not cheap and if they are, you might want to continue looking. However, considering the reason(s) you are contemplating hiring a life coach, the cost should not be the primary consideration. The work you do with a life coach will have a lasting impact on your future and this is not an area in which to economize.</p>
<p>Your relationship with your life coach should be one of the best in your life. If it is not, then the outcome will not be the best. This is your life, make it the best you can and get the best life coach to help you achieve your goals.</p>

<p>Though many people feel that they manage to lose some weight initially, they go back to their normal self after a few weeks. It is hence quite important to know the proper way to lose weight and be wary of mistakes not to make while trying to lose weight. Some of the common mistakes people make while losing weight are-</p>
<ol>
<li><strong>Using The Wrong Strategy</strong> &#8211; Just controlling your diet or exercising won’t be efficient enough. You must find a plan where you use both controlled diet and exercise for losing weight. Also make sure that you are not under stress as it can wash away all your hard work.</li>
<li><strong>Expecting To Lose Too Much Weight</strong> &#8211; It is neither feasible nor advised to lose too much weight too soon. No doubt some people have lost 20 pounds in a week; it however requires lots of work as well as is considered dangerous for health. Instead aim for little change in due course of time. Losing up to 2 pounds in a week is advised and is quite achievable and healthy.</li>
<li><strong>Not Having A Strategy </strong>- Create a strategy for losing weight and stick to it; if you are finding good results with one of the strategies, try to use it more often and if some of them do not work you can always lose one or two of them. Also having a strategy will make sure that you are sticking to the line or at least you know whenever you are deviating from it. Now if you don’t have any strategy then you don’t have a line to stick to and hence more chances of going astray.</li>
<li><strong>Not Having A Measuring Tape</strong> &#8211; Keeping a measuring tape and taking measurements in regular intervals can provide you with valuable data on your progress which is quite essential for knowing your progress and planning your strategies. On the other hand not having one will devoid you of the essential data about your progress. Also getting yourself weighed in regular intervals is a good idea.</li>
<li><strong>Using Quick Fixes</strong> &#8211; Many people go for crash diets or Syrup diets, which is based on depriving the body of calories in order to lose weight. Although there are numerous examples of drastic weight loss through these quick fix techniques, they however can cause serious side-effects. Also crash diets although may show effects in short time is short lived and you will gain weight as fast as you lost it.</li>
<li><strong>Not Keeping A Food Diary</strong> &#8211; Gaining weight is simply intake of more calories than you spend. Hence by keeping a tab of calories you consume, you can make a create a strategy to lose weight quite efficiently.</li>
<li><strong>Being Too Strict</strong> &#8211; Being too strict with your plan is also not good for you. You may devoid yourself of having the chocolate cake for the 3 month course you are following, but once the course is done, you will be tempted to gorge on your favorite meal the moment you get a chance. Also being too strict with your body may arise various complications which is better to avoid in any case. Hence you can have that occasional high- calorie food once in a while, just make sure to add some extra work out session to neutralize it the next day.</li>

<p>There’s no doubt about it: a tan can really boost self-confidence. Having a tan can make you look slimmer and more vibrant. A tan can also minimize stretch marks and the appearance of veins.</p>
<p>Unfortunately, baking in the sun is known to cause melanoma (skin cancer) and premature wrinkles. In fact, in terms of skin damage, according to some, a tan is just as bad as a sun burn!</p>
<p><strong>What’s The Harm?</strong></p>
<p>The sun emits ultraviolet (UV) radiation, which are categorized into three types of harmful rays, two of which can damage our skin: long wave ultraviolet A (UVA) and short wave ultraviolet B (UVB). To keep it simple, UVA rays are the rays that cause aging and UVB rays are what can burn us. Clearly, it’s important to protect our skin from both!</p>
<p>UVC, the third type of rays, are absorbed by the ozone layer and don’t reach the Earth – which is fortunate since they are the most powerful UV rays!</p>
<p><strong>Protecting Your Skin</strong></p>
<p>Wearing large brimmed hats and sunglasses in the sunshine can help protect your face from harmful UV rays. Long sleeves and pants or skirts that cover up your skin is also a good form of protection- choose thin, light fabrics to stay cool. Fortunately there are a lot of stylish options for clothing and accessories that can help protect your skin!</p>
<p>Wearing sunscreen is also crucial. Use a sunblock with SPF (sun protection factor) of 15 or higher and reapply often! Be sure to choose a toxin-free, natural sunblock – your skin absorbs the products you put on your skin so it’s absolutely vital that you use pure personal care products that don’t send harmful chemicals into your bloodstream! Oxybenzone, octinoxate, homosalate and PABA are all sunscreen ingredients you want to avoid: a few are shown to disrupt hormone balance and some are linked to cancer. Ecolani, Lotus Moon and Avalon all formulate sunscreens that use minerals like zinc oxide or titanium dioxide as active ingredients rather than chemical barriers.</p>
<p>Last, avoid direct sunlight in the middle of the day, when the sun’s rays are strongest. Stay in the shade as much as you can between 10AM and 4PM.</p>
<p><strong>Non-toxic Tanning: Natural Options</strong></p>
<p>Luckily, it’s still possible to get a fantastic, glowing tan by using sunless tanning lotions, or “fake baking.” These are not your mother’s tanning potions – they have come such a long way. We no longer have to resort to settling for orange skin in lieu of achieving the glowing bronze we really want.</p>
<p>Since the aim here is a healthy tan, I have to address the need for natural, toxin-free products again. Since so many harmful chemicals such as parabens and fragrances are found in standard versions, slathering them all over your skin to be absorbed into your bloodstream isn’t exactly ideal. Parabens have shown the ability to mimic estrogen, disrupt hormones. They are even linked to cancer.</p>
<p>Fortunately, natural, toxin free options exist all over the market. You can find all natural options for everything from shampoo to the <a href="http://healthandwealthcentre.com/best-anti-aging-natural-skin-care-products.html">top anti-aging skin care products</a>. Self-tanner is no exception. Choose a natural product like the self-tanners from Fresh Indulgence or Nature’s Gate.</p>
<p><strong>Get a Perfect Sunless Tan!</strong></p>
<p>Some sunless tanning products like the gradual lotions are pretty fool-proof. You can just apply those like you do any other moisturizer (skip them, though, if you just shaved) as long as you remember to wash your hands afterward!</p>
<p>The darker lotions that offer quicker results are still really easy to use, but here are a few tips that will help you get a perfect tan that no one will believe is sunless:</p>
<ol>
<li>Exfoliate. Use a loofah or washcloth to buff away dead skin cells before you apply your tanning lotion so that it goes on evenly and beautifully.</li>
<li>Skip shaving. Wait a day after you shave to apply sunless tanning products to avoid irritating your skin.</li>
<li>Moisturize first. Apply a non-greasy moisturizer all over your body and let it sink in for a few minutes before fake baking. Being super moisturized helps the tanning lotion go on more evenly and prevents flaking that results in patchy color.</li>
<li>Dry completely before getting dressed! This part can be a little awkward, ladies. You need to be completely dry before you get dressed, otherwise you’ll ruin your clothes and your tan! My suggestion? Keep a book handy and use this time to get a chapter in.</li>

<h3 id="toc-what-is-the-difference-between-sun-burn-and-sun-poisoning">What is the difference between sun burn and sun poisoning?</h3>
<p>The symptoms are much more severe for sun poisoning then for a regular sun burn. An average sunburn will leave your skin red, dry, itchy and then it will peel. Some may even include a couple of nasty blisters which should be cleaned to avoid infection. Sun poisoning leads to symptoms that go beyond your skin. You may experience headache, fever, nausea, dizziness and fluid loss.</p>
<p>Whether you are sunburnt or have sun poisoning it is important to stay hydrated, but especially with sun poisoning since you have lost lots of fluid. Make sure that you apply ice, cold compresses (like peas) to reduce the itching and swelling. You also can take an aspirin to reduce swelling and pain. You can also try taking a beta-carotene supplement to help get rid of some of that nasty inflammation. Otherwise, treat it like you would a regular sunburn. Time heels all wounds as they say, and try to stay out of the sun and as comfortable as you can in the mean time.</p>
<h3 id="toc-warning-do-not-use-oils-with-fragrances-or-exfoliants-which-will-make-you-feel-worse">Warning: Do NOT use oils with fragrances or exfoliants which will make you feel worse!</h3>
<p>In addition to all the above information a cool bath may help lower your body temperature. Do not go into a cold bath though. When you get out of tub make sure to pat your skin dry, and not rub (which would make your skin even more irritated). Laying out in front of the A.C., sticking your head in the freezer or exposure to any cool environment will help ease the symptoms.</p>
<h3 id="toc-pmle-polymorphous-light-eruption-something-that-could-happen-to-you-but-probably-wont">(PMLE) Polymorphous Light Eruption (Something that COULD happen to you.. but probably won’t)</h3>
<p>One in every 10 American will experience PMLE at some point, and your risk is higher if you are woman. It does not matter what age you are, and can happen to pretty much anyone. One scenario that makes it happen frequently is a drastic climate change. For example, if you live in Toronto and vacation in Colombia, you may have some trouble if you do not apply sun screen.</p>
<p>This condition usually occurs in the form of a rash that will happen after 30 minutes to hours after being exposed to the sun. The rash is basically small bumps all over the body in clumps. We battled the bulge, we took the stairs instead of the lift and we did our best to hit the gym or the pavement three times a week.<span id="more-1287"></span></p>
<p>At least we intended to and it’s the thought that counts, after all. So when we reach our 60s or 70s we feel justified in slowing down. Besides, science tells us that our bodies are less physically capable so we shouldn’t push ourselves too much, should we?</p>
<p>The bad news is that exercise is vital well into retirement years. The good news is that you’ll enjoy your retirement all the more for it.</p>
<p><strong>How much exercise?</strong></p>
<p>That’s always the question, isn’t it? What kind of exercise is also a pertinent question?</p>
<p>If you’ve never been a big exerciser then the same wisdom applies to your later years as it did to your younger years: start slowly and for short periods of time. A brisk(ish) walk around the block will get you started but your block can be rather boring, so why not try a walk in a nearby park or on the beach (if you’re lucky enough to live near one), or on gentle foothills or anywhere else that isn’t the same old same old for you? Go before breakfast or supper, when it’s cool and you can earn your meal. The nice thing about getting it done first thing in the morning is that, well, it’s done. And you feel so incredibly noble for the rest of the day.</p>
<p>Keep it up for five days a week and your 10 minute walk will naturally extend to 20 or 30 minutes. At this point you can go further if you want or you can pick up the pace. The important thing is to keep your heart rate up – but not too high.</p>
<p>Swimming is also a great cardiovascular exercise that is gentle on the joints. Once again, if you live near the sea you’re in luck. Swimming in the sea has several benefits over swimming in pools, most of which are psychological. The bracing sea air, the waves, the salt; all contrive to make you feel good.</p>
<p>If you have been active all your life then you really just need to keep it up, while making allowances for your advancing age, of course. Joggers and tennis players may find that their knees are not as happy as they used to be. So it might be a good idea to cut down on the time spent on the court or on the road. You can supplement it with some other gentler activity, such as walking, swimming and hiking.</p>
<p>Don’t underestimate traditionally ‘old’ sports, like bowls. You might not get a massive cardio workout but you’ll keep your joints flexible and it takes a fair degree of fitness to stand and walk all day.</p>
<p>Gary Brown, staff reporter for cantonrep.com, wrote a rather humourous article on being active into old age. It was all based on sound scientific evidence that suggests that if you want to avoid stress in your retirement years you need to be physically active. Brown takes this to mean you ought to climb mountains – all tongue-in-cheek, of course. If you take your advancing years with a pinch of salt, give the article a read.</p>
<p>No one says you have to run marathons to stay healthy as you age. All you need is a little common sense. Find something you think you’ll enjoy, start slowly, build your stamina and you’ll reap the benefits – psychological and physical – in no time.</p>

<p>However at the same time it’s also important to remember that it’s not the only way to relax and that it’s something of a waste to go straight to sleep as soon as you get home from work. Better is to find another way to relax that lets you enjoy your evening without falling asleep. And one of the very best ways to do that is with a relaxing bath.</p>
<p>When it comes to indulging yourself there is nothing better than lying back and being engulfed by warm water and soothing smells and the heat from the water can help to encourage blood flow while at the same time spontaneously relaxing all of your muscles and joints. This is also ideal after a hard day or a shock – if you’ve injured yourself, become emotionally scarred by something or generally had a hard day, then a warm bath can be the ultimate cure.</p>
<p>Here then are a few ways you can enjoy the ultimate relaxing bath time.</p>
<p><strong>Have the Right Bath</strong>: First of all you of course need to make sure that your bathroom, and more precisely you bath are designed correctly to give you the very best opportunity for relaxation. The best bath will be one that gives you space to relax and stretch out, but that also supports your back and holds you upright. You should also ensure that the bathroom environment itself is perfect for relaxing in – if the room is spacious and the utilities are attractive and clean then this will help to relax you on an unconscious level. Of course you can only work with the space you have regarding your layout, but little tricks such as including a large mirror can help to increase the amount of light in the room.</p>
<p>And if you want to really indulge yourself come bath time, then you should invest in a spa bath that will blow relaxing bubbles and make you feel as though you are relaxing in a hot tub.</p>
<p><strong>Get the Temperature Right (And Keep it That Way)</strong>: The secret to a good bath is making sure you have the right temperature. Make sure that you have it fairly warm to help soothe your muscles and to help encourage circulation – but not so hot that you feel uncomfortable or perspire. You can always add more hot water as it cools too.</p>
<p><strong>Products and ‘Smellies’</strong>: If you want to make sure that you have the very most relaxing environment to bath in, then you need to think about all your senses. To this end you should include some scented candles in the room which can make it smell of lavender for instance while also creating a flickering low light. You can also likewise benefit from bubble baths that are designed to smell nice, and some of these are also natural muscle relaxants and moisturizers to help tend to tense muscles and improve your skin.</p>
<p><strong>Music</strong>: Music is also a great addition to a relaxing bath, and something like some quiet classical music will help you to unwind and will help mask any distracting noises from outside.</p>
<p><strong>Food and Drink</strong>: Finally be sure to have some food or drink to hand to help you really indulge. Alcohol is often popular because it’s associated with relaxation, but a warm glass of milk will have a similar effect, and chocolates or other soothing foods can work well too.</p>

<p>Anyone who has had a baby knows that the weight-loss countdown seems to start right after delivery. Unfortunately, we can&#8217;t just bounce back into our pre-pregnancy bodies. No, we must ease back into them, and we must do it right. Here are five tips for safely losing weight after having a baby:<span id="more-1260"></span></p>
<p><strong>Take your doctor&#8217;s advice</strong>. Every pregnancy, labor, and delivery is a little bit different. While some women may be able to jump on the treadmill only weeks after having a baby, other women may have to wait months to be able to exercise effectively. Additionally, some women may need to stay on special diets due to things like gestational diabetes or breastfeeding. Your doctor will give you the best advice possible for getting back to your pre-pregnancy body. Follow that advice.</p>
<p><strong>Ease into it.</strong> Although it may be tempting to do whatever it takes &#8211; and as quickly as possible &#8211; to get back into those pre-baby jeans, it is important that you remember that your body just underwent some major changes. Having a baby puts a lot of stress on your body, and you must give it time to heal. Start back slowly, and listen to your body. It will tell you when to stop.</p>
<p><strong>Don&#8217;t skip meals</strong>. This is not only horrible for new mothers who need all the energy they can get &#8211; and who MUST get energy through proper nutrients &#8211; but it is also a great way to completely throw your metabolism off-balance. Eat at least three square meals a day. If you can, try to eat five to six smaller meals to really get your metabolism revved up and to keep your energy and your mood at optimal levels.</p>
<p><strong>Be nutrient conscious.</strong> You lost a lot of blood when you gave birth. Your body also went through a major battle, and lost an abundance of poundage in a matter of hours. You must feed your body what it needs if you want it to recuperate. This is especially true if you are breastfeeding. Don&#8217;t sacrifice your nutrition in the name of losing weight. Take a multivitamin, and make sure you get enough of each of the food groups, even if you are watching what you eat.</p>
<p><strong>Beware of certain exercises</strong>. Although you should be able to get into a good exercise routine post-baby (and, of course, under your doctor&#8217;s supervision), there are certain exercises that you should avoid in order to prevent injury or strain. Examples of exercises you should consult with your doctor about include abdominal crunches and any movement that requires you to bend at the waist with your legs straight.</p>
<p>You can lose that baby weight with the right diet and exercise . . . but you cannot rush it. Before you begin any weight-loss regime, be sure to discuss it with your doctor. After all, your health and your baby&#8217;s health are at stake.</p>
