SummerSummer is finally here. Therefore, it’s a perfect time to get outside and enjoy the weather. Take advantage of using the outdoors as your personal gym or playground. Gather your friends and and socialize over these fun activities that will blast calories at the same time.

Plan a Kickball Tournament

Kickball is an incredibly versatile activity. You don’t have to be good at sports to play kickball. No matter what, you are guaranteed to have fun in the rain or shine. Your quick bursts of sprints running to or from the ball will be a great cardio workout. You can burn anywhere from 300-500 calories per hour. Make up your own rules that everyone agrees on so the game is even more interesting. This is a great activity for all ages, so it can be played at family events or while spending the afternoon with your friends.

Mow the Lawn

Mowing the lawn with a push-mower is a great workout for your body. It’s also perfect if you’re trying to be productive around your house. This is especially beneficial if you need alone time. Just pop in some headphones and let your mind wander. You can burn around 250 calories per hour, depending on how big your lawn is. If you are looking to push yourself harder, use a manual push mower. It will take you longer to cut the grass, but you will definitely burn more calories.

Take a Hike

Hiking can be beneficial to you in several ways. It allows you to take a break from the world of technology and take the day to reflect on the nature that surrounds you. You can even take up other hobbies while hiking including bird watching or photography. Depending on how intense your hike is, you can burn over 400 calories in an hour. Take the entire day to adventure into the woods. Your body will thank you. It’s recommended you don’t go alone, but this can be another activity done with your family or friends.

Start a Diving Contest

Channel your inner-child and have a diving contest into a pool. You don’t necessarily have to dive. Try making your cannon ball have the biggest splash or see who has the best flip. You can even give yourself an extra arm workout by using only your arms to lift yourself out of the pool. Easily  200 calories an hour will be burned just by jumping in and out of the pool.

Play Volleyball at the Beach

Playing volleyball at the beach allows you to be a bum and active at the same time. You can easily take breaks in between rounds to run into the water to cool off and wash off the sand that may be stuck to you. Depending on how intense the game is, you can burn anywhere from 100 and 300 calories per hour. No matter what, you’ll work up a nice tan while your at the beach.
